If you love trekking, nothing beats a trek up Mount Batur in Bali, Indonesia to catch a magical sunrise. Depending on your fitness levels the ascent may be moderately challenging and the views at the top are truly unforgettable.
Getting there
Classified as an active volcano (though it’s been dormant), Mount Batur spans a height of 1,717 metres and can be found in Batur Village in the Kintamani District. Since catching a sunrise at its summit is one of the main highlights, plan your excursion accordingly be you staying at Kuta, Ubud or Seminyak resorts.
Planning Your Excursion

Making the Ascent
The trek up Mount Batur takes around two hours one way and you will generally start at 3.45am or 4am; this is because the sunrise is best viewed at 6:15am or so. Temperatures at the top can range between 8 – 15° Celsius and the ascent can get more strenuous as the elevation increases.
At the Top
