Al Safa Park covers an area of 64 hectares in the middle of the city and is quite the green oasis – especially if you’re tired of seeing sand all over! Walk through the well manicured lawns, shaded by towering green trees and bordered by flowering shrubs and you’ll come across 3 lakes running across the park. The park also attracts over 200 species of birds and more than 16,000 types of flora. With plenty of areas and ample space for a picnic, tennis or even football, the park is undoubtedly popular amongst families and youth. Other facilities inside the park include a video game arena along with bumper cars and a big wheel and a jogging track for the physically fit! Those who wish to cruise along the lake can also take advantage of the boating facilities.
Entrance to the park is a mere 3 Dhs and is open daily from 8am to 11pm. Tuesdays at the park are reserved for ladies and children only. A flea market takes place in the vicinity of the Park on every first Saturday of the month from October to May, when the weather is much cooler. The market is moved indoors to Safa Hall once the dry heat sets in to the Emirate.
