Beruwala is only 55km away from the capital city of Colombo and a popular stop-over spot for those who wish to go further down south.

History

It is here that the first recorded settlement of Muslims was established during the 8th century. There is still a big population of the Sri Lankan Moors particularly concentrated in China Fort, which has a history of trading gems.
