Thai Fried Rice (Khao Pad)

Thai cuisine is famous for its stir-fried dishes and one of the most loved stir-fried dishes you should taste is the Thai Fried rice. Khao Pad as the dish is called by the locals; is a rice dish that is made from jasmine rice which is soft and short grain rice. The dish is prepared by stir-frying vegetables and eggs with rice along with your choice of meat which includes chicken, pork or seafood. The dish is served hot with chilli paste and tastes better with a glass of beer.

Stir-fried rice noodles (Pad Thai)

Pad Thai is another comfort food loved by people all around Thailand. This noodle dish is made from dried rice noodles which is soaked in water and then stir-fried along with egg, tamarind sauce, fish sauce, garlic, dried fish, lime, red chilli pepper, tofu and bean sprout. The dish is then served with a lemon wedge on the side and topped with crushed roasted peanuts. If you are stationed at a service apartment in Bangkok near BTS Station or at a hotel in a busy area in the city, you can easily find a food stall that offers this dish as this is a staple breakfast consumed by many people in Bangkok.

Hot and Spicy Shrimp Soup (Tom Yum Goong)

Top young Goong is one of the most popular Thai dishes that you must not miss tasting on your trip to Bangkok. Goong means shrimp in Thai and Tom Yum Goong is a shrimp soup that is prepared using a myriad of spices and vegetables and of course shrimp. You can also taste many other variations of this soup which include seafood such as squid, crab and clams.

Coconut ice cream

If you are a westerner this dessert should definitely sound intriguing but for the people of Bangkok, this is yet another comforting dessert. The preparation method for this dessert is very much similar to making ice-cream but what makes this different is the addition of coconut water and scraped bits of coconut flesh. This gives the ice cream a decadent coconutty flavour and makes it a dessert worth trying.
