Sydney, the capital of New South Wales, is one of the most recognised cities in the world, and one of the most famous aspects of the city, is her harbour.
The Circular Quay
This is the name of the harbour that is situated along the north of the city’s central business district. It is a popular neighbourhood where tourism is concerned and an essential place to visit. There are many hotels near Darling Harbour, a little westward of the Circular Quay, with many examples such as Oaks Goldsbrough Apartments.
History
The Sydney Cove, where this harbour is located, was the initial landing site of the First Fleet, and the governor’s house was erected towards the side of the cove. Eventually development blossomed and some of the first skyscrapers in the country emerged from this area.
Restaurants
If you’re a foodie then you will discover a vast array of eateries around the Circular Quay, in the form of cafes, restaurants, bistros and watering holes.
Sydney Opera House Precinct
One of Australia’s most iconic landmarks is the Sydney Opera House, which happens to be situated around the Circular Quay. This multi-storey entertainment complex is regarded as one of the 20th century’s most recognisable buildings
