Mulu Caves

Located in Gulung Munu National Park in Malaysian Borneo, the group of caves are surrounded by forest. The Sarawak chamber, being one of the underground caves is the largest cave in the world. The cave is so huge that it has the space to house 40 Boeing 747s without overlapping their wings. Another interesting cave, close to the Sarawak is the Deer cave where hundreds of wrinkle-lipped bats fly out every evening in search of food.

Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre

Existing from 1964, the sole purpose of the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre is a sanctuary for orphaned orangutans. These animals are often hunted illegally or lose their habitat due to logging sites and plantations. The rescued orangutans are trained here to survive in the wild and then released.

Ke Lok Si Temple

The Temple of Supreme Bliss as translated is one of the most significant Chinese Buddhist temples in Malaysia and is also the biggest! Pilgrims from Southeast Asia flock here each year. Inside the temple are several images of Buddha and other Gods. However, the most popular part of the temple is the Temple of Rama IV which contains 10,000 Buddha carvings.

Petronas Twin Towers

Moving towards the city, the tallest twin towers in the world are in Kuala Lumpur. Both buildings consist of 88 floors that have been constructed in the shaped of motifs in Islamic art. They clearly symbolize Malaysia’s Muslim community. The buildings have been armoured with concrete and steel while the outer appearance is glass. Don’t forget to cross the sky bridge connecting the 44th floors of each tower.
