The Falaj Daris Park is one of the six irrigation channels that received its World heritage site status from UNESCO in 2006. Water still flows in this irrigation system and there are many places along it that are ideal for picnics.

How to get there

The Falaj Daris Park is one of the best tourist spots in Nizwa and is considered by the locals as a secret spot ideal for a weekend getaway. You can easily find it if you’re staying at Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort or one of the similar Oman luxury resorts by taking a drive past the souks in Nizwa and going ahead to the souks that are located on the left near the Daris area of the town.

What to do

Exploring this magnificent irrigation system by walking along it is one of the ways you can understand its cultural value and beauty. If you’re visiting with your family there is a children’s playground that you can visit.

Popular among the locals

Locals come here especially during the weekend to enjoy a dip and cool down on a hot sunny day. It is also frequented by teenagers and young adults it is especially popular among men, who are trying to get the attention of a potential partner.

The Nizwa Fort is another popular landmark that is located 15 minutes from the Falaj Daris Park. While the fort was constructed around the 1650s its base structure was built during the 12th century. It has been meticulously maintained and is a reminder of the country’s past.
