Beaches, parties, street food and the endless entertainment are few things that pop up in our heads at the mention of Thailand. Apart from the mainland Thailand, the islands around it are also tourist hubs. The island of Koh Pha Ngan is one of the lesser known islands blessed with an abundance of natural beauty. There are stacks of hotels , hostels and guest houses readily waiting to welcome tourists. If you are after a high-end Koh Phangan resort and spa there are also several leading options available here.
Koh Pha Ngan is a great place for trekking. Compared to its counterparts such as Koh Samui, Pattaya and Phuket the island is still behind in terms of tourism and hence is considered untouched which is what makes it a great place to trek. Most hotels offer their guests a chance to explore the island and organise treks, Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villas is one such hotel.
One of the best-recommended hikes in Koh Pha Ngan is the Khao Ra. It is the tallest mountain on the island and has a steady incline; the climb usually takes around 1.5 hours. The summit of the mountain offers great views of the island, especially in the north. The way up to the hill is a great fun filled adventure. The trek on this trail is not recommended for solo travellers as there is no security point and if you injure yourself you would have to wait until the next trekkers arrive. However, the trail is quite easy to find and it does have some signage in the middle of the island when you think you’ve got lost. The vegetation here sometimes does not allow a clear view, however, different points of the summit offer views across different areas.
