On Nusa Lembongan, there’s a famous little beach strip known as Mushroom Beach that’s become quite popular amongst visitors to the island as it provides for soft white sands and transparent turquoise waters that are ideal for swimming, snorkelling and diving! The island itself was said to be named after a mushroom, given the shape of the coral reef offshore. The coral reefs are colourful and so lively, that there is an abundant array of marine life living here. Another popular beach on the island is known as Dream Beach, which is a secluded private beach that’s complete with powdery white sandy beaches located on the south of the Nusa Lembongan. However swimmers are advised to be careful when entering the water as there is generally a very strong rip current.
Nusa Lembongan is also quite famous for surfing, as there are quite a number of great surfing breaks. The island was actually first known as a surfing destination by many surfers, each reef break being within a short boat ride away from each other, which include Playgrounds, Lacerations, Razors and the famous Shipwrecks. The Playgrounds reef break is said to be a short paddle away from the beach and is popular with beginner surfers – so it’s the ideal spot to head to!
