History

The strategically place Carthage city was an important city during the ancient times as it was a port city and ships crossing the red sea, will often make a stop here to replenish their supplies during the ancient times. According to legends, the city was founded by the Phoenician Queen; Elissa during 813 BCE.

The City today

Even though only the ruins of a once flourished city remain today, it has been made a UNESCO world heritage site and millions of tourists visit here yearly due to its historical significance.
