Location
The park is about 260 km from Nairobi and is located on the border of Tanzania. It is placed at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro and provides for an amazing view when you’re at the park.
How to get there
You may drive to the park, when staying in surrounding hotels. It is about a four-hour drive if you are travelling from Nairobi. You may travel by air in a scheduled flight from Nairobi. Overview
The park covers an area of 392 km2 and has a mix of ecosystems including swamps, rocky thorn bush, marshes, acacia woodlands and plains. The park is subjected to a long dry season, increasing the visibility of wildlife for visitors.
Diversity
The park is home to an enormous heard of over 900 free-ranging elephants. You may also come across lions, buffalos, zebras, hyenas, giraffes, cheetahs and other wild beasts. Migratory bird species such as the palm nut vultures, the African skimmer, buffalo weavers and goshawks are said to be lurking about in the park. The bird watching season is in between October and January.
