The Bell Tower is one of the best looked after towers in China, standing 118 feet tall and stretching out to all parts of the town around.
History
Built in the late 1300s, this wooden tower was funded by Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang for the sole reason of protecting his lands and getting prior warnings of any attacks from all directions. The tower itself has been created with references to the Ming Dynasty and stands tall to this day, its green and gold decorations gleaming in the sunlight.
Going inside
An avid historian or photographer who has an accommodation in Xian should take the time to visit the Bell Tower of Xian as they would fall in love in the place at first glance. The tower was the original centre point of the city, with roads paving in all directions from the tower, to create the town.
Location
After years of expansion, this place isn’t in the exact centre of Xian, but hotels like Citadines Gaoxin Xian are just a short ride away from the tower.
Around the Tower
The tower is has a green lawn around its fenced arena and in the early spring, the view is beautiful to say the least, as the plum blossoms and green grass give way to the majestic Bell Tower of Xian.
