Found in Ngu Hanh Son ward which is south of the city of Da Nang Vietnam, the Marble Mountains are a cluster of marble and limestone hills. Interestingly these mountains have been named after five elements which are metal, water, wood, fire and earth. The mountains comprise of cave entrances and a number of tunnels.
The mountains are also popular for housing several Buddhist temples. Many tourists and locals visit these monuments. Stone sculpture making and stone cutting crafts are popularly practiced here in this area. There was a practice of direct rock extraction from the mountains in the area which was later banned for conservation purposes.
156 steps lead to the Thu Son summit that gives access to the Marble Mountains. The spectacular view of the surrounding mountain range from the summit is raved to be one not to be missed. Huyen Khon and the Tanh Chon are two famous caves. Famed Buddhist sanctuaries here include Tam Thai Pagoda that is believed to have been built in 1825 along with Tu Tham and Linh Ung which sit calmly perched on these mountains.
