A little history
This UNESCO World Heritage Site once served as a trading port between the 16th and 19th centuries. The fort was first built by the Portuguese but was strengthened by the Dutch in the 1700s. You’ll find this ancient fortress approximately an hour from Ahungalla hotels, the likes of Heritance Ahungalla.
