Sir Bani Yas Island is a natural one located just off the south western region of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. It is the crest of a many million year old salt dome created by natural geological forces. Measuring 17.5 km from north to south and 09 km from east to west it is the largest natural island in the UAE. The island gets its name from the Bani Yas Tribe who were the first inhabitants of Abu Dhabi. Human settlement of the island commenced thousands of years ago and archaeological sites dot the island. When Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nayhan became the first President of the UAE he banned hunting on the island and started preserving nature and wildlife. Today, Sir Bani Yas Island Wild Life Park occupies more than half the island. Now, the island is a flourishing tourist destination with visitors from all over the world and offers many activities including horse riding. If luxury and natural beauty are what you need in a family hotel in Abu Dhabi then a suitable choice would be Desert Islands Resort & Spa by Anantara.

Throughout the ages, the tribes of Arabia have been noted for their equestrian skills and Arabian horses are considered to be among the best in the world. Equestrian skills still play a very important part in Arabian lifestyles and equestrian enthusiasts visiting the Arabian Peninsula would find much to entertain them.
