Known for being one of the oldest zoos in China, this zoo in Beijing still ranks high in the list of people’s favourite places to visit.
About
Spreading over a massive 220 acres, this zoo is one of the largest animal enclosures in China and has over 450 types of animals, along with about 500 types of marine life. When you add them all up, this zoo houses a whopping 14,500 animals.
What you should expect
Among the 14,500 animals, you can also find some of the endemic animals of China, like the Giant Pandas, South China tigers, Chinese Alligators, Crested Ibis, Siberian Tigers, Snow Leopards, Kiangs, and Siberian Tigers.
A day inside
If your children are getting restless sitting inside the Beijing serviced apartments after the million shopping and sightseeing trips for adults, take them to the Beijing Zoo. The zoo itself is not too far from most of the city’s hotspots; therefore, if you are staying at Ascott Beijing, for instance, it’s just a short drive away.
What to expect
An exciting mix of animals, birds and marine life make this zoo an interesting place to visit, and who’d say no to staring at baby pandas all day long? The zoo also has many historically prominent buildings that belong to the Qing dynasty, and you can walk around the sites if you want a short break and a fun history lesson.
