It has a great historical value

During your holiday stay in Ulagalla, there are several places in Anuradhapura that have great historical and religious values, and Thuparamaya is one main attraction. Built by King Devanampiyatissa during his days, it has become a prominent Buddhist pilgrimage site in the country by now.

It’s sacred for Buddhists

There is a reason why Buddhists consider this temple as a major sacred site. The right collarbone of Lord Buddha is enshrined in Thuparamaya and this is why it is a part of the Atamasthana and Solosmasthana too.

The Dagoba

The structure of the Dageba is special because it takes a bell shape. Although the Dageba was destroyed many times throughout the years, the restorative work carried out have been able to make it up somehow.

It’s an archaeological site

Among the most popular things to do in Anuradhapura visiting its archaeological sites takes a topmost place and Thuparamaya has been recognized by the Sri Lankan government as one such, which also has a cultural significance too.
