There are many Dagabos (Stupas) in this city and some of them are Ruwanweliseya and Thuparamaya. These stupas take different shapes and they have interesting stories about them that date back to centuries.
During Poson Poya days (in June) almost all the Anuradhapura villas in Sri Lanka get fully booked with guests because Poson is special in Anuradhapura. Mihintale – which is one of the most famous destinations to travel on a Poson Poya day is usually frequented by many locals during this to climb the rock that is also deemed sacred.
