Located in Air Itam, a majestic part of a group of peaks, Penang Hill ascends at an elevation of over 800 meters which is over 2,000 feet above sea level. Its topography is defined to be of hilly granitic mass and is prominently a hilly and forested area. Because of the cool environs that the hill lies within, it is a favourite holiday destination where travelers can find a number of Penang hotels in the vicinity.
The most convenient means of accessing the hill tops would be using the regular trains that arrive and depart at intervals. There is an alternate tarred road known popularly as the “jeep track” which is only open to the residents of the hill.
Visitors that arrive from around the world on holiday retreats usually prefer Tanjung Bungah hotels located close to the train stations that travel to the peak of the hill. Copthorne Orchid Hotel Penang is one such hotel that also offers the tranquil luxury of a beach resort.
