Centrally located accommodation providers like Avani Gaborone Resort & Casino are within a 20-minute drive from this site, making it a convenient place to visit be it in the morning or in the evening to catch lovely sunsets.
What to Expect
The picturesque setting beside an artificial lake makes this site the perfect destination for outdoor activities that are enjoyed by both locals as well as tourists staying at nearby hotels in Gaborone. It has become a popular spot for sailing and windsurfing, while birdwatching enthusiasts can spot various bird species too. Along the shore, you will also find the Kalahari Fishing Club and Cityscapes which has a playground for kids and places for picnics.
Gaborone Yacht Club
One of the key attractions at this dam is the Gaborone Yacht Club which provides more activities and is well-known among sailing enthusiasts. Rowing and canoeing are also on offer here, while the clubhouse which provides idyllic views also has a pool, restaurant, and bar. A popular venue for social and corporate functions, this club was interestingly also used as a location while shooting the TV series, “The No 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency”!
