Nay Pyi Taw is a city in Myanmar that holds festivals throughout the year and most of these festivals are Buddhist festivals that generally coincide with the full moon. The festivals are colourful and attract people, even from foreign countries, sometimes.

The Thingyan Water Festival
If your holiday at PARKROYAL Nay Pyi Taw is in the month of April, then the Thingyan Water Festival is something that will steal your heart. It’s the Myanmar New year and the festive season lasts for a couple of days- with various events.
The Kason Festival
This festival is held in May and celebrates the day on which Lord Buddha was born, attained enlightenment and the day of his passing. Nay Pyi Taw hotels are generally fully occupied with devotees in this season who come to the city to visit the Pagodas.
The Thadingyut Festival
It is a festival of lights in which people decorate their houses and streets festively with bulbs and other decorations. Local Pagodas are full of devotees during this festival too.
Other festivals you may come across
Although the majority of events belong to the Buddhist Culture in Nay Pyi Taw, there are other festivals that are widely celebrated as well. Independence Day, National Day and Christmas are few of the others celebrated there.
