The Ozark Mountain Artists Tour is a unique method of truly understanding an artiste’s perspective, what drives them, the story behind their journey and the history of the various art forms in which they indulge.
The tour itself is of a voluntary nature and therefore is free – relatively speaking – the only cost being that of gas in order to drive from one studio to the other. The artistes involved come together to contribute a small sum towards this project but are largely supported through the donations of sponsors. With this the artistes open up their studios for three days on the third weekend in September each year whereby art lovers, well wishers and the plain curious can drive to the various studios and see the artistes in action. Past work and current work completed by the artistes are available for sale as well.
The Ozark Mountain Artists Tour web page provides a comprehensive map in which the studio locations are clearly marked as well as routes by which to get there. There are no rules as to how many studios to visit or whether all studios must be visited, the decision is upto each visitor depending on the days and hours available.
This year’s tour edition marks the 5th consecutive year and 20 artistes and their studios have been chosen to honour this event. The gamut of art forms varies from traditional canvas, paper, to leather, beads, feathers, sculpture, fibre and tapestry as well as the extreme knives and flaming beads.
