It is the splendor with which the Andaman Sea wraps itself around the island of Phuket that captures the hearts and minds of all those who visit and even those who simply hear about it. To add to the rapture, the fairly large land mass is covered generously with foliage and the topography is generally rocky. The tourist attractions in Phuket are based on these natural formations but enhanced by the presence of renowned hotel chains such as Anantara Layan Phuket Resort, malls, night life and restaurants.
A day is insufficient to traverse through the most visit worthy spots and there is no end to how you can keep yourself amused while you are here. An early morning pilgrimage to the Big Buddha made of white marble and placed right at the summit of a mountain is a great way to kick off your stay and day. The Promthep Cape which is not too far off presents a magical aerial view of the southern shore while there are other designated points from which different parts of the island can be admired.
Jungle treks usually take up an entire day and should be kept for the day that you have the most time and energy. Once you step in to the Khao Sok Jungle you literally enter an animal kingdom, where snakes laze around in the sun as you would on the beach, monkeys swing from one branch to another and pachyderms graciously offer you rides on their back.
The sunset along Patong beach is not to be missed at any cost; the sky metamorphoses from a cerulean blue to a crimson infused shade of purple equivalent to what you would see in a picture postcard but rarely in real life. Needless to say, nightlife thrives in this area and young couples find it a beautiful location for their special occasions. Even if you party till late, don’t sleep in too long if your stay is short; the sights and sounds are not commensurate to the extent of land and it is almost as though you need to cover an entire country and not a single city or island.
