If you liked reading Sherlock Holmes with all those mysteries happening in big country homes, you’re gonna fall in love with the Adisham Bungalow in Nuwara Eliya Sri Lanka.

Lying amongst the misty hills
The Adisham Bungalow has a location that makes you feel like you just walked into a Sherlock Holmes murder mystery- high atop a cliff, surrounded by mist and cold seeping to your bones… Don’t worry it’s not completely shut away from civilization or anything for there are plenty of Nuwara Eliya 5 star hotels within a comfortable distance away like the Heritance Tea Factory Sri Lanka; so if you feel that a mystery is in the air, you know where to go hide! LOL
The Former Home of a Philanthropist
Adisham Bungalow is the creation of Sir Thomas Lister Villiers who was a wealthy and kind gentleman who fought against the employment of children and strived to create equality in education.
A Place of Much Reverence
After Sir Thomas retired, the bungalow was acquired by the Roman Catholic Church and later converted to a monastery run by Benedictine Monks that still operates today. Therefore, the Adisham Bungalow is only open for the public on weekends, public holidays like Poya and during school holidays.
Sacred Relic
The chapel of the Adisham Bungalow houses a relic of St. Sylvester, whose missionaries came to the Island of Ceylon during the 19th century. This relic is a chip of a bone of St. Sylvester.
Delicious Souvenirs to Take Back Home
The bungalow has its own shop where you can buy a delicious range of natural jams, jellies and cordials made from the fruit grown from its own orchards.
