An urban park located in 64 hectares of land in the city of Dubai, Al Safa Park is an iconic park in the United Arab Emirates. Prior to its creation in 1975 the area was occupied by illegal immigrants, living in make shift homes without basic facilities. The park inhabitants were pardoned for using public property and evacuated from the area, for the creation of the park. In 1984 the park was redeveloped and more refurbishments was done in 1989 and 1992. Sanitary utilities were added to the park for the convenience of its visitors. An indoor playground that was included makes up a great recreation facility in the heart of the city.
With 3 lakes, over sixteen thousand different kinds’ flora and fauna, and over 200 species of birds the location is rich in natural beauty. A waterfall that flows out of a close by hill flows into the largest lake of the park. Often you will find visitors sitting on touring boats admiring the view of the waterfall and the fountain.
An oasis of nature in the heart of a city that has more skyscrapers than trees, Al Safa Park is sure to make you want to linger a little longer on its patch of greenery, savouring the occasional sound of a song bird, the rustle of trees and the sound of the distant water falling slowly, making it almost a surreal environment in a dessert country. It is an ideal place to spend the day with the family as you enjoy some quality time amidst peace, tranquillity and lush green landscapes. If you want to stretch your feet, while indulging in all that shopping when in Dubai, enjoy the panoramic views of the lake, or maybe catch up on some good reading under the shade of a huge tree, then this site is the perfect place to visit.
