The Alaska Native Heritage Centre that serves as a cultural and educational institution for the entire Alaskan community. Founded in the year 1999 the centre is based in the prominent city of Anchorage and celebrates the 11 cultural groups of Alaska. Picturesquely located on twenty sic wooded acres of land, it is a ten mile drive from downtown Anchorage.
The exterior land belonging to the centre is home to a number of ancient native dwellings, life-size and realistic bounded by the beautiful Lake Tiulana. Both the local and foreign visitors to the centre educated on the customs and traditions of the Native community belonging to the present and the past. While the exterior presents us with the past, the Welcome House displays the contemporary cultures of the Native Alaskans.

They are the Athabascans; from the interior of the country, the Unangax and Alutiiq; from the South and Southwest Alaska, the Inupiaq and the St. Lawrence Island Yupik People; from the North and Northwest regions of the country, the Eyak, Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian; from the South-eastern coast and rainforest and finally the Yup’ik and Cup’ik People; from Western Alaska. It is these peoples that once roamed the Alaskan land in the past.
