The 985 ft tall Aspire Tower said to resemble a torch is the center piece of the Doha Sports City. It is as amazing as the other exceptional facilities at the site. For the moment the tower is the tallest structure in Qatar. According to its Engineer, the tower was designed to resemble a hand grasping a torch. The core of the tower is a 13 to 18 meter thick reinforced concrete core with radiating steel beams in varying diameters that support concrete slabs meaning all floors are cantilevered off the central structure. The whole is clad in a stainless steel mesh that is covered by an energy efficient outer glass skin that is the basis of the comfortable temperatures within even when it is unbearably high outside. The tower now accommodates a reception and public area to host 3000 guests, restaurants, a business centre, a five star hotel on 17 of its floors where because of its circular design each rooms has some of the best views of the city, three floors dedicated to a sports museum, a health club on the 19th floor that has an amazing elliptical infinity pool extending 12 meters out from the building, a revolving restaurant and bar that can seat 300 people, a two storey observation deck and is topped off by a 15MW flame cauldron. High speed lifts move guests quickly to their desired destinations. The exterior of the building was illuminated with LED lights during the Asian Games.
