Two words summarize the culture of Bali – vibrant and lively. Known for its many art forms, Bali is a must-visit place for culture enthusiasts out there. Look for a Nusa Dua resort such as the Laguna Bali to rest in while you explore this vibrant town as this is a luxury resort Bali is quite fond of. While Bali has a reputation for its unique forms of painting, sculpture, woodcarving as well as handcrafts, it is also famous for its performing arts such as music, dance and theatre. Gamelan which is traditional Bali percussion music is a well developed form with many variations which are widely practiced. Being largely influenced by the Hindu religion, Blinese performing arts involve depicting stories from the Ramayanaya but with a unique touch of Balinese incorporated into the performances. There are many dance forms practiced here as well, Keyak, legong, pendet, baris, barong, topeng, gong keybar being some of them. Colourful festivals pulsating with life is the trademark of Bali while all celebrations tend to revolve around the families’ ancestral villages.
When mentioning culture, one cannot forget its fascinating cuisine packed full of flavour, wafting the aroma of exotic spices. Each festival is celebrated with a variety of food and beverages quite unique to the Balinese culture where their flavours leave signatures on the tongues of whoever taste them.
