Bordered by towering trees that offer shade, the lake is ideal for a quiet stroll, be it with the family, with your soul mate or even on your lonesome enjoying moments of reflection. Of course, do be a bit wary on your walks; the trees are also favourite resting places for crows that have left their “marks” on the sidewalks! The walkways immediately bordering Beira Lake is a good option for walking, while you even get spots to just sit and chill out by the water.
For more quietude and maybe even a bit of mediation you can walk over to what is known as the Seema Malaka; this Buddhist temple built over the waters of the lake has a unique architecture and features many statues depicting Lord Buddha.
There is also a small island on the lake which can be reached by way of a long bridge; the island isn’t large and while it is popular amongst couples, you can nevertheless have a look around and maybe enjoy sitting under the shade. If you want some recreation you can always choose to try one of the swan shaped pedal-boats. They provide a fun way to spend time on the water and burn a few calories too!
