When you’re out and about exploring the West coast of Sri Lanka, make time to visit Brief Garden, an architectural marvel that’ll leave you in awe. Here’s a little more information!

Bevis Bawa
A Sri Lankan artist, Bevis Bawa was also the Aide-de-camp to four Governors of Ceylon. Son of Justice Benjamin William Bawa and Bertha Marianne, Bevis’s younger brother was Geoffrey Bawa, an influential Asian architect.
Brief Garden
Bevis started his garden in 1929, which was a former rubber plantation. The plantation was passed on to him after his mother passed away, after which he converted it into what it is today. After a total of 40 years working on the garden, it was finally completed in 1970 and was asked to be open to the public two years later. Brief gardens are made up of several different elements such as passageways that lead to secret gardens and if your feet are curious enough, you may find little spots where you can admire the beauty for as long as you want to. Less than 30 minutes from The Eden Resort & Spa, one of the many 5-star resorts in Sri Lanka is where you’ll find the Brief Gardens.

This unique experience is a must visit when you are within the vicinity and doesn’t take much time unless you want it to. The gardens are open from 8 AM to 5 PM, so pick the most convenient time to visit.
