Overview
Located adjacent to the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, the Capital Gate is a uniquely structured skyscraper. The structure is 160 metres tall and has 35 stories and what makes this skyscraper so unique is the fact that it was built with an incline of 18 Degrees.
The architecture
The structure of this iconic building was designed by an architectural firm called RMJM. It was the first building in the Middle East to use a diagrid and was designed in a way that it can absorb and channel the forces created by wind and seismic loading.
Construction methods
The superstructure underwent sophisticated construction methods and modern technology was intensively used to create this manmade wonder. The foundation of the structure sits above an extensive distribution of 490 piles and built on a diagrid design to tackle gravitational, seismic and another natural phenomenon that poses threat to the structural integrity of the building.
