The Changchun Huguo Prajna Temple in China is one of the most visited Buddhist temples by visitors from all around the world, and it holds a special reputation among the locals too.
The location
The temple is located off the north-eastern corner of the People’s Square in downtown Changchun and is in close vicinity to a lot of star rated holiday venues the likes of Somerset Zhongmao Changchun.
The history of the temple
The temple has been constructed in the 1930s and thus can be called a relatively young temple. The Buddhist monk Master Yanxu who came to the city in 1923 has pioneered forming this temple, and as the legend goes, he used to deliver his lectures here too
The structural layout
From South to North of this temple, you find the gateway hall, the heavenly Kings’ Hall, the Main Hall, and the Sutra Depository Building. There is also a Sakyamuni Statue located in this temple and that is located in the Main Hall.
The popularity
Whenever a religious service is held at this temple, it gets filled with thousands of devotees, and even getting into the premises is challenging. Changchun serviced apartments and other resorts generally get busy with these guests during the festive seasons as a result.
