The Reclining Buddha
The main highlight of the temple is the sculpture of the reclining Buddha which happens to be 65 metres long. The temple and the sculpture had been through many renovations funded by local Buddhists and tourists.

The Reclining Buddha here is unlike any other with a white body and wearing golden robes. The features of the Buddha’s face are sharp and quite dramatic. Several designs have been inscribed in gold under the feet of this statue.
What to observe
There is a special shrine at the foot of the statue for each of the 8 days of the week. This is set according to the Buddhist astrological calendar where Wednesday is split into 2. Devotees offer flowers and pray at the altar of the day on which they were born.

Not far from Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon, a popular hotel in Yangon, the temple is located in the central part of this city. It is open from 6 am to 8 pm. You will have to pay a fee to enter.
