Thailand is not a strange place to tourists as there are countless reasons why they seem to be in love this place. Every city in the island has something inviting and exciting. The city of Hua Hin is not an exception. Once this Southern city was a fishing village but today this is a popular resort destination. Located on the Southern Coast of Thailand it would not be a hard task picking a beach resort in Hua Hin given the stacks of them.
One of the latest additions to the Hua Hin’s activities is the open market – Cicada. The market spreads across four acres just outside the main town it is in close proximity to many Hua Hin hotels, one of the popular options among tourists mainly due to its close proximity is, Anantara Hua Hin Resort. On a Friday night the atmosphere here is great, filled with tourists, families, teenagers all trying to pick up goodies. The place is well lit up with its name spelt out by lighting and reflecting off a pool of water. The vendors here mainly sell, handmade paper dolls, lamps, jewelry, hand printed t- shirts and other little goodies. You can also find break dancers dancing to staccato beats.
The main purpose of the creation of Cicada Market was for artists and designers to connect with the community. The market is divided into four zones and operates on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. There are several local vendors featured from Bangkok and its surroundings. Simple fashion items are available here, and a popular pick is Head Over Heels. There are also cute home accessories available here. There are two white buildings at the center of the market which allows young artists to showcase their original work and is known as the art factory.
There are also vendors selling local delicacies to treat your tired-self after heavy shopping.
