The Viet Cong group dug man, many tunnels during the Vietnam War, and the ones that run through Ho Chi Minh are the Cu Chi tunnels.
The digging of the Cu Chi tunnels
Back in the 1940s, the communist troops of Vietnam began digging the tunnels during the fight against the French. These tunnels were mostly dug by hand, imagining that is enough to make you dizzy. Once the US extended their help, the tunnels started expanding all over Vietnam faster too.
The Black Echo
Living in tunnels for days, waiting to pounce or be pounced upon, was a frightening experience for everyone involved, and the American soldiers called this feeling of being stuck in tunnels, the black echo. Many an accommodation in Binh Duong might have tunnels running below it, you never know! If you are staying at Citadines Central Binh Duong, make sure you ask about it.
The War
The Cu Chi tunnels played a huge role in the war of Vietnam and one of the main reasons the war ended how it did. More than 40,000 men and women of the country have given their lives back in the day, to defend and protect the tunnels.
Visiting the tunnels
You can also crawl through the tunnels for a small price, and experience a little bit of history right there.
