The Taqah Castle was formerly a fort made of mudbrick. It was fully restored during the 19th century. The Tarqah Castle was also used by the Wali i.e. the Governor, as his residence at one point during its existence. It is also easily visited from nearby hotels such as Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara.
Things to See Inside the Taqah Castle
The Taqah Castle, one of the most popular Salalah attractions, is presently home to a small museum. Because of its mudbrick constitution, the temperature inside the Castle is quite cool, even on warm and sunny days. For a nice view of the town of Taqah, make sure to climb to the top of the Castle.
Opening Hours of the Taqah Castle
The Taqah Castle is open from Saturday to Thursday from 9am to 4pm. However, on Fridays, the Castle is open only in the mornings from 8 – 11am.
