With an illustrious history that spans hundreds of years, the Banjar Hot Springs in the heart of Banjar sub district is a natural marvel that is still attracting visitors from across the world. Attributed with special healing powers it is believed that a dip in the springs rejuvenates the body and cures ailments owing to the water’s unique properties. Located less than 2km from Banjar and nearly 24km from the town of Singaraja, the hot springs are contained within the scenic settings of the rural Banjar Countryside with lush vegetation and tropical foliage covering every nook and cranny of the district. Situated near a Buddhist temple, it is believed the hot springs were constructed centuries ago although it was thus divided in to three swimming pools during the Japanese occupation of Indonesia. The Japanese are said to have rechanneled and funnelled the water in to the present day pools so as to make it less difficult for the use of its officers stationed in the military officer resort nearby.
The top most pool contains the warmest water in the enclave while the two remaining pools house progressively cooler temperature water from the spring. Visitors can choose the heat level of the water that suites their preference and bathe in the designated section accordingly. Eight stone dragons spew out the water in the first pool while five and three dragons are used to channel the water in to the pool in the succeeding sections respectively. The water descends from a height of about 20 feet in the third pool in the locale giving bathers a welcome massage as the gush of liquid cascades down to the pool. Especially recommended for those afflicted with skin diseases the hot water which is rich in Brimstone has healed many a skin condition with frequent use.
Families with children can also enjoy an ice cream after a hot bath at the restaurant at the venue. Easily accessible from Lovina Beach, the Banjar Hot Springs are open to the public from 7am to 6pm each day except on Nyepi Days.
