The tiny island you see on the map a few kilometres away from India is none other than ‘The pearl of the Indian Ocean’, Sri Lanka. This land has been the centre of attraction in this mass sea for centuries which led to transpire many events in the country. It is beautiful in every way possible.

The rock fortress
Withstanding the passing of time, this giant rock has been standing for over 1500 years! Unexplainably enough, a king named Kasyapa found it fit to build his palace on this rock and that’s exactly what he did on the very summit of the rock. Climbing up about 90m, you will find age-old frescoes painted by artists. The rock is now considered a World Heritage Site. Since the site has become famous among tourist, there are many hotels like Theme Resorts & Spas in and around the area!
Kandy
The last ancient kingdom of Sri Lanka, Kandy, is of great significance to the local people. The richness of the Kandyan Kingdom can be seen in the man-made Kandy Lake and the brilliance of the Dalada Maligawa, the temple which shelters the Divine Tooth Relic. The city is in all its glory in August when it is time for the Kandy festival or the Esala Perehara which takes place in the temple premises. The event attracts thousands of locals and foreigners.
Nuwara Eliya
Standing at a height of 1990m, Nuwara Eliya is the highest and the coldest area in the island. therefore, it is also known as the England of Sri Lanka. The environment here is flourishing with rows of tea trees landscaped neatly into the mountains. The air is thoroughly refreshing in this part of Sri Lanka. Resorts and bungalows are growing in availability due to rising tourism in the area.
Yala National Park
Located to the southeast of the island, this wildlife reserve is home to many species of wildlife. Animals such as elephants, sloth bears, and monkeys have become quite accustomed to visitors now that when on safaris it is possible to get as close a look as possible. The spotlight, however, is taken by the indigenous Sri Lankan Leopard!
