The little beach town lying on the east coast of Sri Lanka, Pasikuda, is renowned for its stunning beaches and welcoming waters. While you could unwind basking in the sun, there’s also a plethora of attractions, waiting to be explored.
Located roughly an hour’s drive away from Pasikuda, the shallow body of turquoise water separated from the city of Batticaloa is the picturesque Batticaloa Lagoon. Stretching across a whopping 56 kilometres, it is the largest of all three lagoons in the Batticaloa district.
The shallow, welcoming waters lapping the golden sand of Pasikuda Beach is ideal for you to indulge in some swimming and a variety of water sports. If you are looking for some fine Pasikuda hotels, there are several resorts located just a stone’s throw away from the beach, including the likes of Amaya Beach.
Batticaloa Dutch Fort
The open views of the coast, charming colonial architecture, and other remarkable monuments of the Batticaloa Dutch Fort make for a true feast for the eyes of any visitor to Pasikuda. Aside from the Dutch artefacts, the fort also houses a Buddhist stupa.
