Accessible by taxi, bus, or tuk-tuk, Kata Beach has something to offer year-round as well; the peak tourist season with optimal sunshine is from November to April, though the off-peak season from May to October offers the best waves for surfing.

The south end is more suitable for families with children and has areas with shade later in the day as well as amenities close by.

At the northern end is an islet where you can go snorkeling, and if you wish, you can go diving further off the coast too. Spending time at the beach and enjoying water sports will no doubt increase your appetite and when such hunger strikes, there are various restaurants, hawker stalls and family-friendly outdoor cafés nearby; you can look forward to trying authentic local dishes including fresh seafood delights. After the sun sets, you can experience some laidback nightlife too with bars and nightclubs to be found within easy reach of the beach.
