While Patpong may have earned a reputation for its more “notorious” nightlife in Bangkok, the area is also home to a night market which offers some great bargains and foodie discoveries too.
Planning Your Visit
This popular night market is in the Patpong area of Silom and is a 10-minute drive from Anantara Sathorn Bangkok Hotel. It can be reached by the BTS Skytrain (Sala Daeng Station) and the MRT (Si Lom Station) and is generally open from 5:00pm till around midnight. Since the area has many go-go bars it’s better not to visit with kids at night.
Lots to Choose From
The Patpong Night Market offers plenty of choice and those staying at nearby hotels in Sathorn, Bangkok can easily plan a shopping spree at night! Be it clothes, knock-off fashion, handicrafts, souvenirs, shoes, handbags, electronics, sunglasses, toys or watches, you will find it all. Do remember to bargain and check items before purchasing them.
When Hunger Strikes
There are plenty of street carts at the Patpong Night Market in Bangkok offering some of the city’s famed street food. International fast food chains are located nearby, while there are also spots where you can enjoy a cold beer or refreshing coconut ice cream!
An Alternate Market
If you want to shop in Silom during the day, look to explore the Lalai Sap Market near Patpong. Featuring a mix of boutiques, sidewalk vendors, shophouses, mini-malls and food courts, this weekday market (7:00am to 5:00pm) offers clothing, fashion accessories, toys, fruits, snacks and yummy food too.
