One of the best London attractions that’s, of course, an iconic landmark in the city is Big Ben. It comprises both The Houses of Parliament and the Elizabeth Tower.
Big Ben is the bell inside the clock tower
The clock tower became the Elizabeth Tower in 2012 celebrating the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Although this is known as ‘Big Ben’, Big Ben is just the name of the massive bell inside.
It’s Big Ben for a reason!
Big Ben is Big Ben for 2 probable reasons. Either it’s as a tribute for Sir Benjamin Hall who was one of the first commissioners in the House, or for Benjamin Caunt who was a heavyweight boxing champion back then.
Big Ben is at a nice location

The clock tower is right next to the river Thames (at the north end of The Houses of Parliament). So, if you are at any of the luxury hotels in London the likes of Pan Pacific London, the attraction is just a short distance away!
Big Ben has survived through wars
They say not even the bombs during World War II could stop Big Ben. It has continued to strike the hours over the years very proudly.
