Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi
This is the main attraction in Anuradhapura. This sacred Bo Tree is a sapling of the Bo Tree in Bodhgaya, India under which the Lord Buddha attained enlightenment.
Located very close to the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi, is the huge, white-coloured temple, Ruwanweli Seya. King Dutugemunu has created this stupa in 140 BC, and today, the Buddhists believe that this is one of the most sacred places on this earth.
