Built by the Manchu rulers in 1643, right before they annexed the city of Beijing, the Four Towers are popular tourist attractions located in Shenyang, China. Each tower is meant to symbolise one of the four Buddhist Heaven Kings. The towers are named according to their geographical location (that is the West Tower, East Tower, South Tower and the North Tower) and bare an intense resemblance to each other- all towers have a bulb shape, are painted white and have gold decorations adorning the tip. There is a small Buddhist temple found next to each tower.
The North Tower is the most visited of the four, and tourists trying to decide which tower to visit should go here. Admission to the towers is free. The Four Towers remain accessible daily between 9 am and 5 p, although they are known to close early. As it is a popular tourist spot, it is readily accessible by public transport. Tourists who enjoy visiting the towers may also enjoy visiting other local attractions such as the Strange Slope, the Banruo Temple and the Xinle Relics.

It is the home of Nu’erhachi’s Imperial Palace, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and many other historical landmarks.
