You probably won’t recognise this place by its name alone, but the ‘super-trees’ of this nature park are icons of Singapore, making this an essential place to visit.

Background
The garden was an attempt by the Singaporean government to transform a garden city into a ‘city in a garden’. The goal of the project was to enhance the botany of the city in order to enhance quality of life.
The Flower Dome and Cloud Forest
This is one of the park’s two cooled-conservatories, and the Flower Dome is the larger of the two as well as the biggest column-less glasshouse in the world. The Cloud Forest is higher than the Flower Dome and is meant to provide cool and moist conditions while the prior drier and arid to replicate Mediterranean conditions.
Super-Tree Grove
These massive tree-like structures dominate the park’s skyline and range from 25 to 50 metres in height. These are actually vertical gardens, and any given structure would feature over 200 species of various floras.
Popularity
The planet of Xandar in Guardians of the Galaxy was based on the design of the gardens. The gardens were also a setting in the video game Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Many luxury, upscale and mid scale hotels in Asia including the properties under Park Hotel Group are found nearby, so be sure to pay a visit to this iconic park if you’re on vacation in Singapore.
