Any cultural trip to Bangkok would not be complete unless you visit the Golden temple in the sky, which is officially known as Wat Saket.
About
Located in the outer skirts of Bangkok, the Wat Saket will need a separate day to climb up, look around and get back. IF you are put up at a hotel in Asoke the likes of Avani Atrium Bangkok, this place will be within travelling distance.
Walking up
Once you begin climbing up the stairs that lead you to the summit, you will pass trees that fall so low that the overhanging will brush the top of your head or face. Picking to hike up this hill on a sunny but not too sunny day is a good idea.
Once you reach the top
Once you cover the 430 odd steps, you will be able to look at the amazing gift that awaits you. The shiny and vividly golden coloured temple. During the sunset, with the rays glistening off the golden temple, you would imagine this is what heaven looks like.
The Temple
Large bells and funny statues cover the space that leads you to the temple. You can ring these bells for good luck. When it gets windy, the tinier bells in the temple start making music of their own, and it sounds heavenly indeed. From the top, you will get a 360-degree view of Bangkok, and this makes for a great photograph for your social feed too.
