Intramuros is the former capital of the Manila dating to 1571. It is recognized as a relic of the Spanish period in the history of the Philippines. It remains an intriguing site to visit, with several structures of interest. These include the Manila Cathedral, a stone church which has the shape of a huge cross. Also of interest are the St. Augustine Church with its Ionic and Corinthian designs and Fort Santiago, the former seat of colonial powers.
