Looking to lead a healthy lifestyle but not sure how to get started? Here are some tips for you to do just that which will help you find the balance for both mind and body.
Exercise Regularly
It’s important to be active regularly and walking to the fridge and back for snacks doesn’t count! You don’t have to train in the gym, but can instead go on walks, swim, hike, jog or play sports. Try and continuously exercise this way for twenty to thirty minutes at least three to five days a week.
Practise Self-Care
You are in control of your well-being and should actively play a part in ensuring your health and happiness. One way to go about this is to enjoy multi-day wellness programmes from the likes of Elysia Wellness Retreat in the idyllic NSW region of Hunter Valley; spa packages here include such programmes that incorporate spa treatments, wellness seminars, daily group classes, personal training, nutritious meals and more which will help you focus on yourself.
Eat Healthy Foods
Eating healthy doesn’t mean you have to give up those snacks and desserts you love (though moderation is key!), but rather include more nutritious food into your diet which should be more balanced. Thus, fresh veggies and fruits, lean protein, whole grains, and legumes are ideal to consume and come with great health benefits too.
Stay Positive (But Ask for Help if Needed)
It’s important to stay positive through this process and though there may be days that don’t go as planned, don’t give up or go back to unhealthy practices. Being positive and surrounding yourself with people who will help and encourage you as well as offer constructive criticism can make a difference. That said, if you are feeling overwhelmed, severely anxious, or worthless, it’s always best to talk to someone be it a family member, friend or mental health professional.
