The Bali Butterfly Park locally known as Taman Kupu-Kupu Bali is a beautiful paradise of butterflies and insects in Bali. It is an area of 1ha teeming with butterflies and luscious tropical flowers. Here are some facts you need to know before visiting.
Park Highlights
There is a wide variety of Indonesian butterflies here and youngsters have the opportunity of seeing all the stages of metamorphoses. The butterfly park also serves as an ex-situ conservation site for endangered species.
Where is it
It is located approximately 30km northwest of Denpasar. You can hire a driver for the day and make this a day trip too. Some of the best luxury resorts in Bali such as the gorgeous Nirjhara are only about 40 mins away from here, so it’s easier to plan an excursion.
Hours and entrance fees
The butterfly park is open from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm every day. You will be charged an amount equivalent to 7USD for adults and 1USD for children. If you’re planning to visit here, make sure you get there before 10.00 am because once you pass that, the whole premises will be filled with tourists making it hard to see the butterflies.
Things to do
There are butterflies and insects that are dried and put under preserving glass cases; you can take spectacular close-up shots of them or even purchase them as souvenirs for loved ones back home. The Bali Peacock, Common Birdwing and the Majestic Paradise Birdwing are the most common butterflies that are displayed here.
