Bangkok is quite a large city and holds many hidden gems when it comes to historical buildings and temples especially! On the other hand, the city is the capital of Thailand and therefore offers a very urban atmosphere for travellers. Here are a few fun facts.
The most visited city
Nightlife? You’ve got it! A slice of history and culture? No problem, Bangkok’s got it in plenty! What about a Chao Phraya cruise? Bangkok offers that too! No wonder it’s the most visited city and has been named the “World’s Best City” for 4 years in a row by Travel + Leisure magazine.

The longest name
Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Yuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit, that took 2 whole lines and it is, in fact, the traditional name of Bangkok. It is listed as the longest name for a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
City of Angels
Bangkok was nicknamed “The City of Angels” because of its detailed city planning. It is also known as “Venice of the East” for its lively nightlife and the number of canals here.
The food
In every nook and corner of Bangkok is a restaurant or even a hawker selling something to eat on the streets. Food is also a part of the experience by Manohra Cruises and even hotels as they offer cookery classes for local dishes.
